TRAINING RECEIVED:

1)

Trained in surgical teaching and management skills for five years between 1989 and 1995 as an Assistant Professor to Prof. Saeed Ahmed Khan at then Liaquat Medical College Eye Hospital Hyderabad, Sindh , Pakistan. Surgical skills in IOL, Extraocular, Corneal, Retinal, Laser Surgery, and Pediatric Ophthalmology and Refractive Surgery. Teaching the under- as well as post-graduates and managing affairs of the Department. Learnt about complex patient and other management issues.

TRAINING IMPARTED:

  NATIONAL
1) Trained some 78 post-graduate trainees during the 15 year period as a faculty member at the department of ophthalmology, University of medical & Health sciences, Jamshoro, sindh, Pakistan. Some 12 of these passed fellowship and 20 passed the membership examination of college of physicians & surgeons Pakistan(CPSP), 10 passed diploma in Ophthalmology(D.O) from university of sindh/ University of medical & Health sciences, Jamshoro, sindh, Pakistan of the successful trainees, 05 fellows, 07 members and 06 diplomas holders trained directly under my supervisor . A further 14 are, currently at different stages of training under my supervision as a supervisor. I oversee and guide the research of my trainees for dissertation writing as a requirement for the pat ll fellowship examination of the CPSP.
2) Organizer / Facilitator- Postgraduate training courses for MCPS/FCPS at the college physicals & surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) 1989, 1993 & 2004.These were post-graduate refresher courses for the trainees about to take the part ll fellowship examination. The involved designing the course, choosing the faculty, conducting the course and sharing the lectures and tutorial.
3) Teaching / Training Imparted Overseas of undergraduate medical students, ophthalmic nursing and ophthalmic technicians and other paramedical at University of medical & Health sciences, Jamshoro, sindh, Pakistan and at Isra university Hyderabad, sindh, Pakistan.
   

 

TEACHING TRAINING IMPARTED OVERSEAS:

  Undergraduate (Final year M.B.B.S) of King Saud University and King Faisal University, Dammam for clinical ophthalmologic teaching which was provided in informal group discussion in the outpatients, inpatients and surgical procedures explained in theatres.

Postgraduate teaching to the department junior staff in particular and junior form the department of medicine form time to time, being the clinical tutor of the department task was to arrange and supervise the formal lecturers on basic, medical and surgical ophthalmology and informal discussions and tutorial on various topics and clinical case presentations journals club, to keep up with literature.

RESEARCH ACTIVITIES:

1) Member Technical committee, Research Foundation Ophthalmologic Society of Pakistan (OSP)- since 2003.

Research Foundation was established as a subsidiary of the Ophthalmology society of Pakistan by some of the members of the OSP. The technical committee has designed a proposal proforma and ground rules have been formulated and floated in the fraternity. Area of research have been identified and proposals have been invited.

2) Clinical Evaluation efficiency & the safety profile of topical ophthalmic drops    (Code # ASO12001) as a post-operative therapy in patients of cataract extrication & implant surgeries at Liaquat university of medical & Health sciences, Eye hospital, Hyderabad, Sindh.
3) Supervised guided and monitored original research for thesis writing for three MS students and dissertation writing for some fifteen Fellowship students. I am on a regular roll for the assessing the dissertations of the candidates for Fellowship of the CPSP.
